Published Books Include:
LGB: How and when did you begin writing?
Lauren: " I have been writing as long as I can remember. While most kids would be outside playing or riding their bikes, my idea of
play time was writing stories. A blank book was the greatest gift anyone could ever give me. My family and even some teachers greatly
supported my writing. I vividly remember my fifth grade teacher writing a piece for an educational journal. She described each one of
her students that year. For me, she wrote, "Lauren knew that she was indeeed a writer." That has stuck with me for my entire life. At
age fourteen, I was nationally published for the first time.
As an adult, I found myself writing historical and scientific non-fiction. I know it sounds boring, but I did ( and still do ) actually
enjoy it. In 2006, I began writing a series of intertwined short stories, but that was just a fun little project I was doing for myself.
My publisher heard about my little project and wanted to see it. Reluctantly, I sent it to her. Thus, Loving Her was born.
She has challenged me with fictional work ever since and I honestly love it!"
LGB: How does it feel to write?
Lauren: "Writing is an unusual undertaking. It requires a lot of dedication and hard work, and yet it doesn't feel like work at all. I almost feel as though I am flying when I listen to my fingers
hitting the keyboard. I am like a little child who simply daydreams and my daydreams end up on paper or on your screen. It's tremendous fun for me. I get so swept up in the stories. I often have
difficulty keeping up with myself! Yes, it takes an unbelievable amount of time. Dedication and persistence are key. But when you love what you do, you have so much fun that nothing else matters
anyway!"
LGB: What do you want your readers to know about you?
Lauren: " Truth be told, I am just a regular gal. I have many passions and interests from music to animals to roller derby. I am incredibly approachable and I love connecting with my readers and
talking with them. I am open, honest and incredibly sincere. I write like I speak, and my writing comes straight from my heart. As one person said about my writing, "there's no BS there. It's just
true, honest." I think people appreciate honest writing more than fluff. And so that's how I approach my writing as well as life: just be simpe, true and honest."
LGB: Where are you originally from? Where are you living now? Are you single?
Lauren: "I currently reside in Rochester, NY with my fiancee and our menagerie of animals. :) Originally, I am from the city of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia!
LGB: Any encoouraging words or suggestions for unpublished writers?
Lauren: Persistence is key in the writing industry. We need to be persistent in our edits and making our work be as polished as possible. Too, we need to be
persistent in pursuing publication, representation, etc. This is a tough, competitive industry. You need to have tough skin and sheer determination.
